Cheow Tong joined Arthur Young & Company (predecessor firm of Ernst & Young) after his graduation in 1982, where he audited a diversified portfolio of companies in the manufacturing, trading, construction and engineering, oil and gas as well as the finance sectors. In addition, he was involved in special audits and financial forecast reviews.
In 1986, he joined a Fortune 500 US construction group as its first local Accounting Manager and was tasked to establish the accounting department of the main branch in Singapore. He was also responsible for the finance and accounting functions of the various branches in the Asia Pacific region.
Cheow Tong later joined the local subsidiary of a UK-listed aviation conglomerate as its Accounting Manager, where he played a major role in streamlining the different accounting systems for the company, as the company had acquired two subsidiaries of a local listed company. Apart from his functional responsibilities in the Singapore and Indonesian offices, Cheow Tong was also a member of the business planning committee and was actively involved in the successful application of a related company for pioneer status in Singapore.
Cheow Tong joined Chio Lim Stone Forest in early 1993 as a partner in the audit department. He was the engagement partner when the firm acted as Reporting Accountants of its first IPO assignment in 1995. Since then he was assigned to be the Partner-in-charge for 12 other IPO assignments as well as the firm’s first RTO assignment in 2004. He has been a member of the Accounting Standards Committee of the Institute of Certified Accountants of Singapore since June 2007. |
