Rules for Hiring Foreigners to Be Tightened
Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say said "With slower manpower growth, we need to maximise the potential of our two-thirds local, one-third foreign (workforce), so that together, we can maximise the potential of our total Singapore workforce"
More companies will have to do job advertising for at least 14 days on the national Jobs Bank before being able to hire a foreigner.
The minimum qualifying salary of employees will be increased by $200 to $2,400. The minimum qualifying salary will be raised in 2 steps:
- Jan 2019: increased by $100
- Jan 2020: increased by $100
